Although the question your classmates same up with is valid ( and not to take anyting away from them-the effort and intent is there), I want to post another. One purpose is to get you to think about how you question at a higher level regarding these stories. Please respond:

I think that fate does play a role in our lives. Of course our decisions do change things, but say someone walking across a street and a drunk driver runs into the person. The person didn't decide to get hit by a car did they? I don't think so. Decisions do lead you down a certain path but the path can be changed by fate. I think our own decisions work together with fate to create our future.
I think in some circumstances we choose our own paths and sometimes we reside on fate. Residing on fate isn't always the best idea to make because everyones luck runs out. Choosing yout own path is the logical thing to do because you use your mind to help you in times of need. So, choosing your own path and fate are both important to live on.
I think that most things are up to fate but we get to deside the little things in life that don't matter as much. I also think that what we do now will effect our lifes in the furture whether you know it or not. In the story the man was in love with the princess not kowing that it will later make him have to choose between life or death.
I think that we can make some of the decisions we make on our own but fate is the thing that chooses what actually happens in our decision making. And we do not choose our paths fate does that for us because even if we make a decision fate determines what is to come for us. Soyes fate does play a role in our lifes it can even determine our whole future by our decision making. And we can not do anything to keep fate from doing that because with each and every decision we make fate has an answer and a next step for that decision
I believe that God has a plan for us. And that He knows what are "path" is in life and what is going to happen. I believe that he knows our future. Our lives are in his hands. But God does give us the liberty of our own choice. Although he knows what that choice is before we make it anyway.
In life i believe that we have already had are life chosen out for us. God has already planned our life. But we don't know what is going to happen in the future. So all we can do is make our decisons whether or not fate comes into that is not our choice or our dicsion. So i am going for both sides i think that we do make our own decsions and i think that we also have fate interact with our decsions.
